Malik Beasley has hinted at his next career move, posting a cryptic message on Instagram that fueled speculation about his future.
“Step into my world. Where we don’t listen to the outside noise… year 10 is approaching… probably the most interesting one of them all… my decision is near,” Beasley wrote, alongside a photo of himself wearing a sweatshirt branded with “MB5.”
The 28-year-old guard is coming off a strong season with the Detroit Pistons, where he averaged 16.3 points per game while shooting 41.6 percent from three-point range. He appeared in all 82 regular-season contests and added 14 points per game in Detroit’s playoff matchup against the New York Knicks.
According to The Detroit News, Beasley plans to remain in Detroit during the offseason while weighing contract offers. The Pistons can only offer up to $7.2 million using his non-Bird rights, leaving open the possibility of him signing elsewhere.
Detroit has already reshaped its wing rotation by adding Caris LeVert, Duncan Robinson, and Javonte Green, creating uncertainty about Beasley’s role if he returns.
Several teams are monitoring the situation, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Minnesota could pursue a reunion with Beasley, who averaged a career-high 19.6 points per game during the 2020–21 season with the Timberwolves. The Knicks are exploring affordable perimeter upgrades after facing shooting deficiencies in the playoffs, while the Cavaliers are looking for depth with Max Strus sidelined due to foot surgery.
Beasley’s availability comes at a pivotal point in his career, entering his 10th NBA season after stints with Denver, Minnesota, Utah, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and Detroit. His consistency as a floor-spacer and improved efficiency make him a valuable target for contenders.
His future had previously been clouded by involvement in a federal gambling investigation, but he was cleared of wrongdoing earlier this year. That resolution has positioned him to secure a deal above the veteran minimum.
