The Detroit Pistons have officially signed free agent guard Caris LeVert to a two-year contract worth $29 million, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.

LeVert, 30, joins the Pistons after spending the second half of last season with the Atlanta Hawks. Acquired at the trade deadline from Cleveland, he averaged 14.9 points per game on 48.2 percent shooting in 26 games with Atlanta.

The Pistons’ pursuit of LeVert intensified as they prepared to part ways with Dennis Schroder, who is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Sacramento Kings. Schroder’s departure created an opening for Detroit to bolster its guard rotation with a player of LeVert’s caliber.

Detroit finished the 2024-25 season sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 44–38 record but lost to the New York Knicks in six games during the first round of the playoffs. The team is reshaping its roster, focusing on improving depth and scoring versatility.

Atlanta had prioritized retaining LeVert this offseason, but Detroit’s offer and plan appear to have swayed the guard.
