The Miami Heat are exploring a reunion with forward Precious Achiuwa, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
The franchise has engaged in ongoing discussions with its 2020 first-round pick regarding a potential role in the frontcourt. Miami’s depth at center is limited, making Achiuwa a possible fit for their power rotation.
Achiuwa, 25, spent his rookie season with the Heat before being included in the 2021 trade that sent Kyle Lowry from Toronto to Miami. Since then, he has played for the Raptors and New York Knicks, developing into a versatile defender and rebounder.
Last season, Achiuwa appeared in 57 games for New York, averaging 6.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 0.8 steals in 20.5 minutes per contest. He shot 50.2 percent from the field but struggled at the free-throw line, converting just 59.4 percent of his attempts.
Across his five-year career, the Nigerian-born big man has averaged 7.6 points and 5.7 rebounds in 320 regular-season games. He has also logged postseason experience with the Heat, Raptors, and Knicks, appearing in 26 playoff contests.
Miami has leaned heavily on Bam Adebayo at center in recent years, with limited backup options behind him. The team has often sought short-term solutions, including veterans and developmental prospects, but depth at the position remains a priority heading into the 2025-26 season.
