Javonte Green has officially signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Pistons, as confirmed by the NBA’s transactions log.

On August 11, Shams Charania of ESPN reported that the Pistons were finalizing an agreement with the free agent swingman, with both sides close to completing the one-year deal.

Green, 32, began his professional basketball career overseas after going undrafted out of Radford in 2015. Over time, he earned opportunities in the NBA and has since carved out a role as a dependable rotation player for several franchises.

Since 2019, he has appeared in 263 regular-season games with the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, and Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging 5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds across 16.8 minutes per game.

Primarily recognized for his defensive prowess and versatility, Green spent the 2024–25 season splitting time between New Orleans and Cleveland.

He made 18 starts and appeared in 50 games for the injury-ravaged Pelicans before being bought out, allowing him to join the Eastern Conference-leading Cavaliers.

Across 68 combined games for both teams, he averaged 5.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per contest, posting shooting percentages of .429 from the field, .326 from three-point range, and .724 from the free-throw line.

Charania’s report did not disclose further specifics about Green’s Pistons contract, including whether it is fully guaranteed, though it is expected to be near the league minimum.

With the Pistons currently carrying only 13 players on standard deals, Green should have a strong opportunity to secure one of the 15 spots on Detroit’s regular-season roster this fall, regardless of whether his deal begins as fully guaranteed.
