Malik Beasley has decided to stay in Detroit while exploring NBA contract options, according to The Detroit News.
The 28-year-old sharpshooter is expected to pursue a deal above the veteran minimum after averaging 16.3 points per game in the 2024–25 season.
Beasley connected on 41.6% of his three-pointers last season, appearing in all 82 regular-season games for the Pistons.
He also contributed 14 points per game in the playoffs against the New York Knicks, showcasing his reliability in key moments.
Detroit currently holds only his non-Bird rights, limiting their maximum offer to $7.2 million, which may affect Beasley’s return.
The Pistons have added Caris LeVert, Duncan Robinson, and Javonte Green, signaling a potential shift in roster priorities.
Other teams have expressed interest, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Minnesota could reunite with Beasley, who played for the Timberwolves from 2020 to 2022 and posted a career-best 19.6 points per game in 2020–21.
The Knicks are seeking low-cost perimeter upgrades after their playoff series with Detroit, making Beasley a potential fit.
Cleveland’s interest is tied to Max Strus’s absence, sidelined for three to four months following foot surgery, with Beasley providing spacing for Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland.
Beasley has played nine NBA seasons across six teams, including Denver, Utah, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and Detroit.
His recent clearance in a federal gambling investigation removes prior uncertainty and allows him to pursue higher-value contracts this offseason.
