Free agent guard Malik Beasley has signed a deal in Puerto Rico, according to Shams Charania.
Charania reported Friday that Beasley agreed to play for the Santurce Crabbers, a team owned by Grammy Award-winning artist Bad Bunny, with both sides confirming the agreement to ESPN.
The Crabbers’ season begins in March, giving the veteran shooter a competitive platform while he awaits a ruling tied to ongoing NBA and FBI investigations into gambling allegations.
Charania noted that the move allows Beasley to showcase his value ahead of 2026 free agency as he remains in limbo regarding his NBA future.
The 29-year-old is coming off one of the most productive seasons of his career with the Detroit Pistons.
Beasley averaged 16.3 points across all 82 regular-season games last year and set a franchise record with 319 made three-pointers.
His perimeter efficiency has long defined his role, and he owns a career 39.1 percent mark from beyond the arc over 578 NBA appearances.
Floor spacing remains his primary skill, and his ability to convert high-volume attempts fits modern offensive systems built around drive-and-kick action.
The Puerto Rico deal follows months of speculation about a possible overseas stint in Europe.
In December, reports suggested that Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade was negotiating a contract with Beasley for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. However, his agent Brian Jungreis rejected the notion that a deal was close.
By choosing Puerto Rico, Beasley secures game reps without locking himself into a long-term overseas commitment that could complicate a potential NBA return.
The arrangement also keeps him active in a competitive environment as league officials continue their review.
