Free agent guard Malik Beasley is drawing “strong” interest from teams in Europe and China, according to Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews.
Multiple clubs have reportedly reached out to gauge his interest in signing overseas while he awaits resolution of his ongoing legal and NBA investigations.
Beasley, 28, was being investigated by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for possible illegal betting activity, a situation that derailed a potential three-year, $42 million deal with the Pistons in June.
While he wasn’t named in last month’s indictments that involved other NBA figures, he hasn’t yet been cleared by federal authorities or the league.
According to Urbonas, several Chinese Basketball Association teams have made appealing offers featuring lucrative pay and NBA opt-outs, allowing Beasley to play and stay in shape while awaiting clearance.
The CBA season doesn’t begin until December 12, giving him time to decide.
Beasley averaged 16.3 points per game last season with Detroit and ranked second in the NBA in made three-pointers (319).
If reinstated, the Pistons and Cavaliers are expected to show interest in bringing him back.
