Galatasaray Medical Park announced that the new head coach of the team will be Ekrem Memnun and his assistant will be Derya Ozyer.
Galatasaray, who parted ways with Ceyhun Yıldızoglu after losing against Fenerbahce in TKBL Finals, found the new coaching team. Cem Akdag was rumoured to be the head coach but instead, Ekrem Memnun was appointed.
Coming through the ranks of Galatasaray youth teams since back in 1989, Memnun was working with Anadolu Efes as assistant coach recently.
In years between 1996 and 2002, Memnun managed to bring Euroleague third place title to Galatasaray as the head coach of the team, the greatest club success ever of Turkish women basketball history.
Derya Ozyer, his appointed assistant, is also from the glorious days. She was the captain guard of the above mentioned period and last year, coached Optimum TED Ankara Kolejliler last season whom she led to TKBL 2009-2010 and not only managed to keep them in the top division, helped them to play in Eurocup Women.
Among the teams she worked with, Erdemirspor, played Turkish Cup final in 2004.
