Anthony Edwards scored 26 points to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 144-117 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night at Golden 1 Center. Edwards added five assists, four rebounds, and two steals in the win.
After the game, Edwards revealed he gave his jersey to a dedicated fan in the stands. “I used to hope I could get a jersey when Kevin Durant played in Atlanta, but I was always in the nosebleeds,” he said via ClutchPoints.
Edwards explained his decision, noting the fan’s support. “He said he supports me a lot and he was super happy to get my attention, so I said I was going to give him my jersey tonight,” Edwards added.
The Timberwolves built a 67-48 halftime lead, with Edwards scoring 16 points in the second quarter. Minnesota dominated inside, finishing with 64 points in the paint.
Jaden McDaniels contributed 21 points, while Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert each added 19. Gobert also grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked five shots. Minnesota’s bench, led by Naz Reid with 13 points, helped maintain control throughout the game.
The Timberwolves improved to 6-4 on the season, while Sacramento fell to 3-7. Zach LaVine led the Kings with 26 points, and DeMar DeRozan scored 22, but the team could not keep pace. Domantas Sabonis returned from injury to post 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Edwards continued his hot streak following a 37-point performance against the Utah Jazz on Friday. He connected on 5 of 11 three-pointers and went 7 of 8 from the free-throw line in Sunday’s contest.
Minnesota’s offensive surge included 40 points across the second and third quarters, highlighted by Edwards’ early second-quarter three-pointer and four-point play. The team outscored Sacramento 40-30 in the third, effectively putting the game out of reach.
The Timberwolves will face the Utah Jazz on Monday, while the Kings return home to host the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday.
