LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne rallied from an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter to stun Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade 82-75 on Wednesday, October 28, earning its third win of the EuroLeague season behind a decisive late surge led by Jae Crowder.
Partizan led 69-58 with six minutes remaining before ASVEL unleashed a 24-4 run to turn the game around. Crowder, 36, hit two difficult shots in quick succession during the decisive stretch, while Patty Mills and Hugo Besson added timely three-pointers as the French side closed out the comeback at LDLC Arena.
The victory was a response to ASVEL’s 106-85 defeat at Zalgiris Kaunas in the previous round.
Mills and Tremont Waters led ASVEL with 14 points each, while Crowder finished with 13 and Joel Bolomboy added 12. ASVEL struggled from long range, making just six of 19 three-point attempts, but made up for it with physical play inside and timely stops in the closing minutes.
Crowder’s impact went beyond the scoring burst. He helped ASVEL maintain its composure as Partizan’s offense stalled, with the visitors unable to find a response during the decisive run.
Partizan had appeared to be in control after outscoring ASVEL 27-20 in the third quarter and making nine of 18 three-pointers overall.
Kevarrius Hayes led the visitors with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Lamar Stevens added 13 points. Carlik Jones, however, finished with just seven points and four turnovers as ASVEL’s defensive pressure disrupted Partizan’s attack.
The visitors scored only 16 points in the fourth quarter after managing 27 in the third. ASVEL finished with 21 assists and nine turnovers, while Partizan recorded 24 assists but committed 13 turnovers.
The win moved ASVEL to 3-5, while Partizan fell to 4-4. ASVEL hosts Baskonia on Friday, and Partizan travels to face Zalgiris Kaunas on the same day.
