Killian Hayes set to join Maccabi Tel Aviv

Killian Hayes is expected to join Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv, with the Israeli club working to bring the French-American guard to the country as quickly as possible, according to a report by Walla on Thursday, October 29.

Maccabi are looking for a replacement for injured Iffe Lundberg, and Hayes has emerged as the player expected to fill that role. The report says the club had pursued him last summer before he opted to continue his NBA career with the Sacramento Kings.

The 25-year-old has played 239 NBA games, averaging 7.9 points per game. He appeared in 23 games for Sacramento last season, recording 5.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 17.6 minutes per game while shooting 30.4% from the field.

Hayes was selected seventh overall in the 2020 NBA Draft by Detroit, two picks before Deni Avdija. His best NBA season came in 2022-23, when he averaged 10.3 points and 6.2 assists in 76 games for the Pistons.

He also spent time in the NBA G League over the past two seasons. In 2025-26, Hayes averaged 23.1 points and 8.2 assists in 28 games for the Cleveland Charge, shooting 46.8% from the field.

He has not played in Europe since his 2019-20 season with ratiopharm Ulm, where he posted 11.6 points and 5.3 assists in 20 German league appearances.

Maccabi’s need for backcourt help has become more pressing after a difficult start to the EuroLeague season. The loss to Paris Basketball on October 29 left the team with a 2-7 record, following three consecutive defeats in the competition and four losses across all competitions.

Hayes is expected to provide additional playmaking as Maccabi attempt to turn their season around. The club’s next EuroLeague game is against Partizan in Belgrade on November 6.
