Klay Thompson is looking forward to his season debut with the Golden State Warriors, which could happen as early as the first two weeks of January.

The All-Star guard hasn’t played for the Warriors since Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, as he was recovering from a couple of very serious injuries. However, he is now ready to go and aims to return to the All-Star level of performance he used to have.

Klay Thompson spoke with reporters on Friday and admitted his return to the floor is ‘very close’. Yet, he made it clear that it’s up to the medical staff to determine when he will make his season debut.

The three-time NBA champion with the Warriors revealed that he will play around 18-20 minutes in his first games back. He also said he will need a few weeks to return to top form.

For his part, Steve Kerr has no desire to bring Thompson off the bench and made it clear he will be a starter once he becomes available to play.

Both Klay Thompson and coach Kerr have already mentioned the debut of the veteran guard will take place at Chase Center. Golden State currently is on top of the West, with a league-best 27-7.
