Marc Gasol is ready to leave the NBA and return to Spain in order to play for Girona for the first time since 2008.

Gasol got traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Memphis Grizzlies a few days ago and will be waived in the coming days in order to return to Spain.

The veteran center was linked to both FC Barcelona and Girona, however he is set to join Girona, for which he played before moving to the NBA (2006-2008).

Per L’Esportiu de Catalunya, Gasol, who is the owner of Girona, is expected to officially join the team this Monday (September 13).

Gasol, who was named the MVP of the ACB with Girona back in 2008, will compete in LEB Oro, the second division of Spain.

Marc Gasol spent 13 years in the NBA, playing for the Grizzlies, the Toronto Raptors and the Lakers. He won the championship with Toronto back in 2019.
