Marc Gasol opened up about his decision to leave the NBA after 13 years and return to Spain to play for Girona.

The 2019 champion with the Toronto Raptors admitted staying in the NBA was not his priority back in the summer. Therefore, he decided to leave the league and return to his home country.

“I know perfectly well that if I wanted to continue in the NBA, I would be there now, but it was not my priority. My priority was to be physically fit and recover,” Marc Gasol told Cadena SER.

The veteran center also said he stands by his decision and doesn’t regret leaving the NBA. “I am not very nostalgic nor look back and miss things. I try to stand by my decisions as effectively as possible and live the present,” he added.

Marc Gasol is averaging 17.3 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists for Girona this season. He is the owner of the club and also joined the active roster on November 25.
