While the NBA is brainstorming possible season return formats, Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey publicly expressed support for “Conference-less” playoff seeding, with the top 16 teams with the best records qualifying.

“I am in favor of a “Conference-less” bracket for the NBA postseason. This would be a HUGE advantage for the Houston Rockets,” Morey tweeted.

If the NBA goes with the “Conference-less”, then the Rockets (10th overall seed) would face the Utah Jazz (7th overall seed). The winner would most likely face the Los Angeles Lakers (they will face the Brooklyn Nets) in the next round.

In case the traditional conference playoffs format is used, the Rockets would have a big task in the first round as they will take on the third seed Denver Nuggets.
