Olympiacos will be without Jean Montero for approximately six months after the guard underwent surgery to repair the lateral meniscus in his left knee, the Greek club announced Friday, October 30.
The 23-year-old Dominican international is expected to miss the remainder of the 2026-27 EuroLeague regular season and a significant part of the campaign’s closing stages. Olympiacos confirmed the recovery estimate but did not provide a specific date for his return.
Montero had made an immediate impact since joining Olympiacos. He scored 30 points in his only Greek league appearance and averaged 15.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists across six EuroLeague games.
The guard averaged 24.2 minutes per game in the EuroLeague, shooting 42.6% from the field, 28.6% from three-point range and 93.1% at the free-throw line. He also recorded 1.2 steals per game.
Montero had been particularly productive in Olympiacos’ October schedule. He scored 26 points against his former team Valencia on October 13 and added seven assists against Barcelona on October 16, before the team lost 64-61 to Fenerbahce on October 23.
His absence removes a significant scoring and playmaking option from Georgios Bartzokas’ backcourt. Codi Miller-McIntyre is averaging 8.8 points and 5.8 assists, while Tyler Dorsey has averaged 11 points in his only EuroLeague appearance.
Olympiacos entered Friday’s EuroLeague game against Armani Olimpia Milan with a 6-2 record, placing fourth in the standings. The club is scheduled to host Crvena Zvezda on November 6, its next listed EuroLeague fixture.
