Olympiacos have signed American guard John Konchar to a two-year contract, the Greek club announced Thursday, October 22, adding the former Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz player to its roster for the 2026-27 season.
Konchar, 30, spent the 2025-26 NBA season with Memphis and Utah. He averaged 3.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steal in 30 appearances for the Grizzlies before joining the Jazz, where he recorded 5.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals across 26 games.
The 1.96-meter guard played 14.6 minutes per game in Memphis and 26.1 minutes in Utah. He shot 52.1% from the field for the Grizzlies and 44.5% for the Jazz, while making 25% of his three-point attempts in Utah.
Konchar spent most of his NBA career with Memphis after going undrafted in 2019. He appeared in 406 regular-season games for the Grizzlies from 2019 through 2026, establishing himself as a versatile contributor capable of rebounding and creating opportunities beyond scoring.
His best statistical season in Memphis came in 2022-23, when he averaged 5.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 72 games. He also recorded 1.1 steals per game that season.
Before entering the NBA, Konchar played four seasons at Purdue Fort Wayne from 2015 to 2019. In his final college campaign, he averaged 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 33 games, shooting 54.6% from the field and 38.1% from three-point range.
Konchar now joins an Olympiacos team that has opened the 2026-27 EuroLeague season with a 5-1 record through six games. The Greek side sits third in the standings, level on wins and losses with Panathinaikos and Fenerbahce, which also have 5-1 records.
Sasha Vezenkov leads Olympiacos with 18.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, while Jean Claudio Montero averages 15.5 points and 4.5 assists. Tyler Dorsey is scoring 12.6 points per game, and Codi Miller-McIntyre contributes 4.8 assists per contest.
Konchar’s two-year agreement marks his first move to European basketball after seven seasons in the NBA system, including his time with the Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz.
