Olympiacos overcame the absences of Jean Montero, Tyler Dorsey, Evan Fournier and Nikola Milutinov to beat Besiktas 81-73 on Wednesday, October 28, earning its fifth win in six road games in the EuroLeague regular season.
The Reds made an early statement with a 15-0 run and held off multiple comeback attempts by the hosts at the Turkcell Basketball Development Center in Istanbul. Besiktas stayed within reach through the first three quarters, but Olympiacos delivered a decisive 12-0 run late in the fourth to secure the victory.
Sasha Vezenkov led Olympiacos with 16 points, shooting 6-of-9 from two-point range and 2-of-5 from beyond the arc. With Milutinov unavailable, Donta Hall and Tyrique Jones provided production inside, scoring 14 and 15 points, respectively. Hall made six of seven two-point attempts, while Jones converted seven of nine.
Tyson Ward added 13 points in 30 minutes, while Codi Miller-McIntyre contributed nine points and seven assists. Olympiacos shot 63.2% from two-point range and finished with 26 assists against 11 turnovers, helping it maintain control despite Besiktas’ efforts to rally.
Besiktas had Jaylen Nowell as its leading scorer with 15 points, while David DeJulius finished with 12 and Conor Morgan added 11. The hosts shot 36.7% from three-point range and recorded 19 assists, but Olympiacos’ efficiency inside the arc and late fourth-quarter surge proved decisive.
Olympiacos sits fifth in the standings at 6-2, level with Valencia Basket, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Fenerbahce. Besiktas is 13th after eight rounds.
Olympiacos will look to build on the road victory when it hosts Armani Olimpia Milan on Friday. Besiktas will also be in action that day, visiting Virtus Bologna.
