The Detroit Pistons are expected to make a strong push to sign Caris LeVert away from the Atlanta Hawks, according to reporting from Jake Fischer and Marc Stein on Stein’s Substack.
Detroit’s focus on the 30-year-old guard comes as they prepare to part ways with Dennis Schroder, who is widely expected to sign a two-year deal with the Sacramento Kings. The veteran point guard is projected to earn close to $30 million to become Sacramento’s new starter.
LeVert, who was acquired by Atlanta at the trade deadline from Cleveland in exchange for De’Andre Hunter, played an important role for the Hawks off the bench during the second half of the season.
In 26 games with Atlanta, he averaged 14.9 points on 48.2 percent shooting from the field. His scoring efficiency and versatility made him one of the Hawks’ most reliable reserve contributors.
The Hawks had reportedly made retaining LeVert a top offseason priority. However, Detroit’s pursuit appears serious.
After finishing sixth in the Eastern Conference at 44–38 and falling to the New York Knicks in six games in the first round, the Pistons are reshaping their backcourt heading into next season.
