Stephen Curry’s NBA future continues to generate questions as the Golden State Warriors superstar enters the later stages of his career, but his wife, Ayesha Curry, appears to believe retirement is not coming anytime soon.
At 38, Curry remains one of the NBA’s top players, and Ayesha suggested fans could have several more seasons to watch the four-time champion.
“Of course, Steph is the hardest-working man in the room. He has no days off. He hasn’t stopped since last season ended. He’s ready. He’s ready to get out there. I think we’re going to be in for some fun surprises over the next couple of years,” Ayesha told NBC Sports Bay Area.
Her reference to “the next couple of years” could offer some indication of how long Curry intends to continue playing.
Another question surrounding Curry has been whether he will finish his career with Golden State. The Warriors have struggled to replicate their championship success in recent seasons, winning only two playoff series since capturing the 2022 title.
However, Curry has made his preference clear.
“There’s no question I want to be here the rest of my career, and I’m pretty sure that’s going to happen.”
Curry is eligible for a two-year, $136.7 million extension that would keep him under contract with Golden State through the 2028-29 season. He is already set to earn $62.6 million during the upcoming campaign.
Signing that extension would potentially give Curry three more seasons with the Warriors, a timeline that would also fit Ayesha’s comments about what could happen over “the next couple of years.”
