Nikola Vucevic’s future in Chicago remains uncertain as NBA teams continue to pass on trade opportunities involving the veteran center.

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, there has been little to no market interest in Vucevic dating back to the 2024-25 trade deadline. Fischer stated during a recent stream that a midseason buyout is now more likely than a trade.

The 34-year-old is entering the final year of a three-year, $60 million contract with the Bulls. His expiring $21.5 million salary was expected to make him a trade asset for teams seeking short-term frontcourt help without long-term financial commitments.

However, interest has been minimal. The Golden State Warriors, previously linked to Vucevic, have reportedly moved on. “I don’t think the Warriors have much interest in Nikola Vucevic,” Fischer said, addressing previous rumors that the franchise was exploring a deal involving the two-time All-Star.

Golden State had engaged in exploratory trade discussions this offseason, with Jonathan Kuminga and Josh Giddey mentioned in potential sign-and-trade scenarios. Kuminga’s representatives even discussed a pathway to Chicago that might have involved Lonzo Ball, but those talks dissolved after the Bulls traded Ball’s contract to the Cavaliers.

With Ball no longer part of the equation, Chicago reportedly considered including Vucevic in a restructured deal. But the Warriors showed little interest in acquiring the veteran big man, effectively closing that route.

Vucevic averaged 18.2 points and 10.5 rebounds last season but has seen a dip in trade value due to concerns about defensive limitations and age.

Chicago is now expected to monitor the buyout market if no viable trade emerges before the 2025 trade deadline. If released midseason, Vucevic would likely draw attention from playoff-contending teams needing experienced frontcourt depth.
