The Chicago Bulls are sending point guard Lonzo Ball to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for wing Isaac Okoro. This trade helps the Bulls adjust their guard-heavy roster, while the Cavaliers add depth and insurance in case they lose Ty Jerome in free agency.

Ball has bounced back well after missing time across four seasons due to multiple knee surgeries. Last season, he played 35 games for Chicago, showing good health and averaging 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 22.2 minutes per game.

Near the end of the season, Ball secured a two-year, $20 million extension with the Bulls, which includes a $10 million team option for the 2026-27 season.

Okoro, who signed a three-year, $33 million deal with Cleveland last year, saw his playing time decrease as he fell behind Max Strus and De’Andre Hunter in the rotation.

The Bulls already have numerous guards under contract and are expected to re-sign Josh Giddey this offseason. Bringing in Okoro, a defense-oriented wing, provides more balance to their lineup.

For Cleveland, acquiring Ball offers protection against the potential loss of Jerome, who is an unrestricted free agent this summer after a breakout season with multiple teams showing interest in him.
