Nikola Vucevic will return for Sunday’s game against the Toronto Raptors, the Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla confirmed to reporters, including Jay King of The Athletic.
Vucevic has been out since March 6 with a fractured right ring finger that required surgery. He was expected to miss three to four weeks, but will be back slightly sooner than anticipated.
The 16th pick in the 2011 draft, Vucevic began his career in Philadelphia before being traded to Orlando in the deal involving Dwight Howard.
He spent over eight seasons with the Magic and six years with the Bulls before being dealt to Boston last month.
In 11 games with the Celtics, he has averaged 11.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 23.5 minutes per game while coming off the bench.
Overall this season, Vucevic has played 60 games, averaging 15.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.
The 35-year-old is on an expiring $21.5MM contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he doesn’t sign an extension before July 1.
