New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown expressed frustration after his frontcourt players again dealt with foul trouble during the team’s latest playoff game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Following the game, Brown suggested he hopes the officiating balance and free throw disparity between the two teams becomes more even as the series continues, according to Jared Schwartz of The New York Post.
Brown specifically pointed to a foul called against Karl-Anthony Towns during a play involving Tyrese Maxey, questioning the level of contact that led to the whistle.
“I think it was (Karl-Anthony Towns)’ third or fourth foul where Maxey came off him,” Brown said.
“I’m not sure what’s a bump and what’s not a bump, but up by half-court, I gotta go back and I gotta watch that, because you can literally call somebody getting bumped every time down the floor if you want to.”
Brown added that the timing of the foul was especially difficult because it further limited Towns while New York was already dealing with foul trouble among its big men.
“And so, for KAT to pick up his third or fourth foul that way – I can’t remember which one it was – that was tough,” Brown said.
