The Golden State Warriors have no significant interest in acquiring Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic, according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.
During a recent segment, Fischer explained that while Vucevic’s name surfaced in discussions involving the Warriors, the franchise appears to have little appetite for bringing in the veteran big man. “I don’t think the Warriors have much interest in Nikola Vucevic,” Fischer stated, clarifying the team’s position after earlier rumors.
Golden State has reportedly been exploring trade options to retool its roster this offseason, with forward Jonathan Kuminga and guard Josh Giddey floated in possible sign-and-trade scenarios. Kuminga’s representatives have held multiple meetings with Warriors executives in Las Vegas, per Fischer, as they attempted to create a pathway to Chicago that would benefit both sides financially.
Fischer added that Kuminga’s camp originally explored a scenario where Lonzo Ball would be sent back to Golden State in exchange. However, that possibility diminished after Chicago dealt Ball’s contract to Cleveland earlier in the offseason.
Without Ball’s expiring deal as a trade piece, the Bulls were thought to potentially offer Vucevic instead. But the Warriors reportedly were not inclined to pursue the two-time All-Star center as part of a package.
Vucevic, 34, is entering the final season of a three-year, $60 million contract extension he signed with Chicago in 2023. His $21.5 million expiring deal has made him a frequent topic of trade discussions, particularly for teams looking to improve frontcourt depth without taking on long-term salary.
Chicago nearly traded Vucevic to Golden State at this past season’s deadline, though the deal ultimately collapsed before completion. Despite that near-deal, Golden State’s current focus appears to be elsewhere, and the Warriors have shown little interest in revisiting a pursuit of Vucevic this summer.
As the Bulls continue to explore options for their veteran center, they are also expected to evaluate younger alternatives, with Zach Collins positioned as a potential starter if Vucevic is moved.
