Tyus Jones chose to sign with the Phoenix Suns for less money, prioritizing the chance to start for a contender over bigger paychecks elsewhere.

The New York Knicks offered him a two-year, $10 million deal, and he had even larger offers, including sign-and-trade options with his former team, the Washington Wizards. These would have paid more than his current veteran minimum contract with Phoenix.

Jones is set to start for the Suns, joining a lineup with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Jusuf Nurkic as the team retools after lacking a traditional point guard for much of last season.
