The Dallas Mavericks have completed a trade with the Charlotte Hornets to acquire Tyus Jones in exchange for Malaki Branham.

Dallas had identified Jones as a priority target due to a pressing need at the point guard position and previously pursued him during free agency before turning their attention to D’Angelo Russell.

For Charlotte, the deal creates a $7 million trade exception.

The Hornets had only just acquired Jones on Wednesday in a separate move with the Orlando Magic.

Jones has played in 48 games this season, averaging 3.0 points and 2.4 assists in 15.7 minutes per contest.

While he owns a career three-point shooting percentage of 37.3 percent, his efficiency from beyond the arc has dipped to 29.4 percent this season.
