From all the people within the Sacramento Kings camp, Alvin Gentry delivered the worst expression about the team’s latest depressing loss against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night in front of their home crowd.

Gentry, fresh from clearing his time on the health and safety protocols, was fuming in the media availability and even called the Kings’ performance “the most disappointed” he has been in his whole time in the NBA, via ESPN

“It’s the most disappointed I’ve been in 34 years in the NBA, I can honestly say that,” said Gentry. “That performance was absolutely ridiculous. We didn’t play hard, we didn’t compete. We didn’t guard the ball, we didn’t guard screen and rolls. We didn’t follow the game plan. No competitiveness whatsoever.

“They basically toyed with us. I’m totally disappointed and everybody in this building should be disappointed.”

As Sacramento went up by one at the end of the second half, Memphis blazed off for a 24-5 blitz within four minutes of the third period. Trailing by only a dozen early in the fourth, 91-79, the Kings lessened the pressing of their foot on the gas pedal and was left behind eating some dust as the Grizzlies soars for a dominant dub.

“I feel like teams come in here licking their chops for sure,” Kings guard Terence Davis said. “It’s up to us to protect our home court. We have to fix the little things. No excuses whatsoever. Once we get on the same page, all aboard, this team is very talented. It’ll come along.”

Gentry fills the head coaching void of Sacramento as the interim coach, replacing Luke Walton after an abysmal 6-11 start and backlash of players this season. Since then, the ball club proceeded for a lowly 7-10 record.

After the tough loss, the Kings are now two losses near the Western Conference’s 15th seed. Amid hardships, they are still eyeing to break the league’s longest current and historical playoff drought (15) in this 2021-2022 season, as they haven’t tasted any postseason appearance since 2005-2006.

The Kings will try to bounce back as the Oklahoma City Thunder will pay a visit on their turf on Tuesday.
