Even before the training camp finally commences, the Sacramento Kings reportedly have identified their preferential supporting bigs already heading to the 2023-24 season.

According to James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento, JaVale McGee and Alex Len are expected to make it to the cut of the Kings’ 15-man roster, barring any unexpected circumstances.

As such, Ham pointed out that both big men are expected to battle for the right to become Domantas Sabonis’ backup center.

Besides McGee and Len, the Kings are stacked at the front as they still have Nerlens Noel and Neemias Queta as two more supplemental bigs on their roster. The trio were added by the franchise this 2023 offseason.

The picking of both McGee and Len appears logical, given their history of play and veteran command. McGee, a three-time champion, holds familiarity with coach Mike Brown as they notably won titles with the Golden State Warriors in 2017-2018. Meanwhile, Len has been already established as a backup for Sabonis since the 2021-22 season.
