Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic wanted to play in Game 2 vs the Lakers, according to Erik Spoelstra.
Both players ruled out for Game 2 due to injuries.
“I had to play the role of not just head coach but a parent the past 24 hours. These guys are really amazing…they were both lobbying to play and we ultimately had to take the decision out of their hands for tonight,” the head coach of the Miami Heat said, via Rachel Nichols of ESPN.
Adebayo is dealing with injuries in his shoulder and neck, while Dragic suffered a foot injury.
Miami is down 1-0 in the series.
