The Los Angeles Lakers are set to make a return on the court at the end of July when the NBA season resumes. It will be more than four months without any games when the NBA returns. But, it changes nothing in terms of the Lakers’ season goals.

Fan-favorite point guard Alex Caruso says Los Angeles is still on a mission to win a championship this season. Although it will be a different path from what they initially expected.

“I think for the team, it’s just about realizing what we want to do. Our goal for the beginning of the season was to compete for a championship, and I think that’s still our goal. It’s still our mission; it’s just been a different path than we first expected to take,” Caruso said, via Bela Kirpalani of UPROXX.

The Lakers are currently sitting atop the Western Conference with 49 wins and 14 losses. The last time they won a championship was in 2010 when Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol led the team to its 16th NBA title.
