Plymouth Raiders are through to the BBL Cup semi-finals after a comfortable 91-57 success away at Surrey United on Friday night.

Matthew Pressey led the Raiders with 15 points as they join the Leicester Riders in the last four of the competition.

It didn’t get any better for United as they remain winless in all competitions after being soundly beaten 115-71 to the Newcastle Eagles in the league on Sunday.

After a close first quarter, Eagles pulled clear to lead 60-33 and from there it was all one-way traffic.

Scott Martin led the Eagles with 25 points while Paul Gause was in fine form himself by adding 24 in victory.

Despite victory on Friday night, Plymouth Raiders suffered a 107-99 loss at the improving Manchester Giants on Sunday.

Despite trailing by double digits, Manchester stormed back into the game and a game-winning 9-0 sealed the win for Jeff Jones’ side.

David Aliu led the winners with 25 points while James Jones added 20 points and dished out 17 assists.

Leicester Riders moved to the top of the BBL league table but they were made to work hard for their 82-71 win over Cheshire Phoenix on Saturday.

20 points from Rashad Hassan gave the champions victory as they raced clear of the Phoenix with a 14-4 run in the fourth to secure the win.

The Riders joined the Sheffield Sharks at the top of the BBL table as they convincingly beat Worcester Wolves 83-64 on Friday night.

BJ Holmes announced his return to Yorkshire with 18 points to lead the Sharks to victory. Will Creekmore led the Wolves with 25 points.

It was three straight defeats for Worcester after that loss. They ended it though with a comfortable 92-77 win in Scotland over the Glasgow Rocks on Sunday.

Andreas Schreiber and Will Creekmore led the Wolves scoring with 21 points each while Rocks’ Gareth Murray scored 21 too.

A team quietly on the rise is the London Lions after they recorded two wins over the weekend. They thumped the winless Birmingham Knights 94-69 on Saturday.

Adrien Sturt led all scorers with 29 points for the Lions, as they pulled clear in the second quarter to get the win.

The Lions then followed that up with an 86-76 win at Cheshire Phoenix on Sunday afternoon.

Nick Freer had 20 points for the victorious Lions as they move near top spot in the BBL table.

The other game in the BBL saw Durham Wildcats pick up their third win of the season, beating Birmingham Knights 115-69 in the North East.

Paul Elderkin led all scorers for Durham with 26 points as the Wildcats were rarely troubled, en route to the victory.
