Mathias Lessort talked about his recent injury and the importance of defence in France’s quest for success in the Basketball World Cup.

Here is what the French big man told teamfrancebasket.com:

On his recent injury: “I was not really worried [about missing a few games] because I had already demonstrated what I could bring to the team during the qualifying windows.

Vincent Collet knows me very well now, he knows what I can bring, what are my qualities and faults.”

On the national team’s defensive performance: “I think defence is the strong point of the team. Even more, since we lost Adrien Moerman and Thomas Heurtel who were very strong offensive players.

This forces us to focus on defense. Then, Argentina was probably also tired by its 3 games in 3 days with small rotations but we must not minimize our performance. We respected our defensive principles.”
