Euroleague Basketball announced multiple disciplinary sanctions on Thursday, February 19, following incidents in Rounds 26 and 28 of the 2025-26 EuroLeague regular season.
Real Madrid head coach Sergio Scariolo was fined €5,000 for comments regarding the officiating in the Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens–Real Madrid game, under Article 24.2.c) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.
Olympiacos Piraeus coach Georgios Bartzokas received the same €5,000 fine for comments about the refereeing in Dubai Basketball–Olympiacos Piraeus, also under Article 24.2.c).
Both teams remain firmly in the playoff race, with Real Madrid fourth at 17-11 and Olympiacos second at 18-9 as of February 20.
Round 28 sanctions focused on crowd-related incidents and individual conduct.
Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade was fined €7,500 after objects were thrown by fans during its home game against Real Madrid, in violation of Article 29.2.g).
Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens received total fines of €22,000 for multiple infractions during its matchup with Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul.
The violations included the use of laser pointers, offensive conduct by fans, throwing of objects and insufficient security measures, under Articles 29.2.e), f), g) and i).
Panathinaikos sits ninth in the standings at 16-12, tied with several teams in a congested playoff race where point differential and head-to-head results often prove decisive.
Mathias Lessort was handed a one-game suspension and an €8,000 fine for his conduct in the same game against Fenerbahce, under Article 27.2.e).
The suspension affects roster depth for the Greek side as it battles for a top-eight finish, with only a narrow margin separating positions four through ten in the table.
Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul leads the league at 20-7, while clubs ranked from second through tenth are separated by just three wins.
Disciplinary measures at this stage of the season carry competitive weight, as home-court advantage in the playoffs depends on final regular-season placement.
Euroleague Basketball’s decisions are subject to appeal before the appropriate bodies, in accordance with the Disciplinary Code.
