Olympiacos will not play against Panathinaikos in the Greek Basket League playoffs on Monday (20/05) and will be relegated to the second division.

The “Reds” have notified the Greek Basketball Federation and police that will not compete in Game 1, which is scheduled to take place at the Olympic Athletic Sports Center.

Olympiacos will not only lose the game, but will be relegated to the second division. Olympiacos made this decision, after the referees Tasos Manou and Panagiotis Anastopoulos were selected to officiate the match against the “Greens”.

Anastopoulos and Manos were two of the three referees of the Greek Cup semi-final between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos on February 13. Olympiacos had forfeited the game in protest of the referees’ decisions.

The “Reds” had also stated that the team will forfeit any game in the domestic competitions, if the match is officiated by Anastopoulos, Manos and Panagiotou.
