Bulls reportedly seeking trade offers for Norman Powell

The Chicago Bulls are looking to field trade offers for Norman Powell ahead of the NBA trade deadline, according to Jake Fischer.

Powell, 33, is in the first season of a two-year, $44 million contract that includes a team option for the second year.

Powell has made seven appearances for Chicago, starting all seven and averaging 20.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 29.7 minutes per game. He is shooting 41.8% from the field and 34.0% from three-point range while making 7.0 free throws per game.

The veteran guard is the Bulls’ second-leading scorer behind rookie Caleb Wilson, who is averaging 21.6 points through seven games. Chicago has started the season 1-6, with Powell accounting for 20.3 points per game despite the team’s difficult start.

Powell is coming off an All-Star season with the Miami Heat, where he averaged 21.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 58 games during 2025-26. He also shot 38.0% from three-point range and made 82.7% of his free throws.

The guard previously spent three seasons with the LA Clippers, averaging 17.0 points in 60 games in 2022-23 and 13.9 points in 76 appearances in 2023-24. He increased his scoring to 21.8 points per game in 60 games during the 2024-25 campaign.

Powell’s contract gives Chicago a decision point beyond this season. His $22.575 million salary for 2027-28 is a team option, meaning a potential trade partner would not be committed to that second season.

The Bulls are currently near the salary-cap line, with approximately $165.8 million in total allocations against a $164.96 million cap.
