Barcelona head coach Svetislav Pesic referred to the excellent performance of Thomas Heurtel in the victory over Panathinaikos (79-68).

The French point guard scored a season-high 23 points in 26 minutes. He also had 21 points on Wednesday against Armani Milano.

“The point guard is always the leader. The coach is always the leader. This is normal.

If the player, who plays in this position (point guard), doesn’t lead a group, then he better not play basketball,” the Serbian coach said in the post-game press conference.

Pesic also praised his players for their overall performance, as the Catalans extended their winning streak to five games and currently stand at 11-7.

“Of course, winning a EuroLeague game, everybody is happy. Like always, it is important how we won the game against a team with very aggressive defense that came wanting to win the game, which is normal.

We kept calm, sticking to our concepts, knowing what we wanted to play in the crucial moments of the game, and this, of course, is very important,” Pesic added.
