CSKA retain Kyle Hines; swoop for Leo Westermann

CSKA Moscow has retained the services of influential forward Kyle Hines plus acquired the services of point guard Leo Westermann, who joins from Zalgiris.

While it was almost mandatory for the Muscovites to keep Hines, a defensive specialist and an integral part of the starting line-up, signing Westermann, a solid point guard who can put points on the board if required shows that they are prepared if Milos Teodosic decides to leave for the NBA.

To add, the recent departure of Aaron Jackson further highlights the need for a guard and Westermann, who averaged 10 points and 5.5 assists a game last season fits the bill.

Hines has signed a two-year contract extension with the newly crowned VTB League champions. He originally arrived to the Russian capital in the summer of 2013 after winning back-to-back titles with Olympiacos.

Hines has three EuroLeague titles to his name, which are tied for the most among active players and he has six consecutive Final Four appearances, too. Hines averaged 8.5 points and 4.3 rebounds in the EuroLeague last season.
