Nikola Djurisic, who was waived by the Atlanta Hawks last week, appears close to continuing his career overseas, with reports indicating he is nearing an agreement with Serbian club Crvena Zvezda, according to Eurohoops.net citing Meridian Sport.

After Atlanta decided to convert Caleb Houstan’s two-way contract into a standard NBA deal, Djurisic began evaluating multiple opportunities in Europe while considering his next professional step.

The move ultimately opened the door for a return to familiar territory.

Selected with the 43rd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Djurisic spent his rookie season developing in the G League with the College Park Skyhawks before signing a three-year standard contract with the Hawks last summer.

However, only the first season of that agreement carried guaranteed money.

Despite being under contract, Djurisic never appeared in a regular-season game for Atlanta.

During the current campaign, he played 21 games for the Skyhawks, averaging 9.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists while shooting 42.7% from the field, though he struggled from beyond the arc, converting just 19.0% of his three-point attempts.
