Nikola Djurisic, who was selected in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft and recently signed his first contract with the Atlanta Hawks, will not be part of Serbia’s roster for the upcoming EuroBasket tournament.

According to Kevin Chouinard from Hawks.com, who shared the news on Twitter, Serbian national team head coach Svetislav Pesic explained the reasoning behind this choice by highlighting Djurisic’s potential.

Pesic described the young 21-year-old forward as “the future of Serbian basketball,” emphasizing that although Djurisic was considered for inclusion, the team already has numerous seasoned players in his position.

“There was some thought given to adding him to the roster, but given the depth and experience we have at that spot, we decided to let him rest,” Pesic said. “He’s spent an entire year in America and needs a break from everything for now.”
