Nikola Djurisic has officially joined the Atlanta Hawks on a three-year contract, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
The agreement is reportedly valued at approximately $5.95 million in total, based on the NBA’s minimum salary scale. The first year of the deal is guaranteed.
The Hawks announced the signing via a press release, confirming that they’ve converted Djurisic, previously a draft-and-stash prospect, into a member of their standard 15-man roster.
A 21-year-old Serbian wing, Djurisic was taken with the 43rd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Rather than joining Atlanta immediately, he spent the 2024–25 season developing with the College Park Skyhawks, the team’s G League affiliate.
Over 32 games there, the 6’8″ forward averaged 10.5 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.1 rebounds.
However, he also had issues with turnovers, averaging 3.1 per game, and struggled with shooting consistency. He posted a field goal percentage of just 37.9% and connected on only 17.8% of his 101 three-point attempts.
As Kevin Chouinard of Hawks.com pointed out on social media, Atlanta had previously been operating with 12 players on standard NBA contracts.
Due to their tight position near the luxury tax threshold, they didn’t have the financial flexibility to bring in three veteran players at the minimum salary level.
Signing Djurisic to a rookie-minimum contract is a cost-effective solution that allows the team to preserve cap space.
Under the terms of his deal, Djurisic will count just $1,272,870 against the team’s salary cap for the 2025–26 season.
This low cap hit gives the Hawks sufficient room to potentially sign two additional veteran players to minimum-salary contracts without exceeding the luxury tax line.
The team used the second-round pick exception to finalize the player’s contract.
Although he’s now officially on the NBA roster, Chouinard noted that it wouldn’t be surprising if Djurisic spends a significant portion – or possibly the entirety – of next season continuing to develop in the G League.
