The Sacramento Kings finally ended their franchise-record 16-game losing streak on Monday night, earning a 123-114 road win against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The victory provided much-needed relief for a team that had endured a difficult stretch despite several competitive performances during the skid.
Russell Westbrook led the way offensively with 25 points, helping set the tone as Sacramento maintained control for much of the game.
Precious Achiuwa also delivered a standout performance, tying his season high with 20 points while adding 12 rebounds to record a strong double-double effort.
After the game, the player spoke about the significance of the win and how important it was for the team’s morale following weeks of frustration.
“We needed this,” Achiuwa said.
“It’s been a bit of a rough path for us the past couple games. We’ve played really well a lot of those games. We were just unfortunate not to come out with a win, but tonight we’re glad. It feels good to win.”
Achiuwa has played 6 seasons for 4 teams, including the Raptors and Knicks. He has averaged 7.6 points and 5.7 rebounds in 371 regular-season games.
