Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade confirmed the signing of Serbian guard-forward Nikola Djurisic on Wednesday, securing the 22-year-old on a contract through the end of the 2027–28 season. The club announced that Djurisic will spend the remainder of the 2025–26 campaign on loan with Mega, where he previously developed from 2020 to 2024.
The move adds a long-term domestic prospect to Zvezda’s core, with the organization emphasizing his versatility and prior experience in the ABA League. Standing at 204 centimeters, Djurisic is capable of playing both perimeter positions, offering size, secondary playmaking, and rebounding from the wing.
Zvezda highlighted his profile as a former ABA League top young player and a Serbia national team member since 2022. The club stated that his arrival aligns with a broader strategy of building a “new wave” of Serbian talent expected to contribute in future seasons.
The timing of the signing reflects roster planning beyond the current EuroLeague campaign, where Zvezda holds a 18–13 record and sits sixth in the standings as of March 18. The team remains in the playoff race, relying heavily on established contributors such as Jordan Nwora (17.4 points per game) and Chima Moneke (14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds).
Backcourt production has also been a key factor, with Codi Miller-McIntyre averaging 7.1 assists and Jared Butler adding 13.4 points per game.
Djurisic’s recent trajectory includes a brief stint in the NBA system with the Atlanta Hawks, where his role remained limited. After being selected 43rd overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, he spent time between the NBA and G League, with modest statistical output and limited opportunities to establish a consistent role.
Atlanta’s decision to waive him earlier this year opened the path for a return to Europe, where his previous production and familiarity with the ABA League provide a clearer developmental environment.
Djurisic is expected to join Zvezda ahead of the 2026–27 season, with the club positioning him as part of its future perimeter rotation.
