The Philadelphia 76ers are adding frontcourt depth by signing center Charles Bassey to a 10-day contract.
The move gives Philadelphia additional size at center while also helping the team navigate eligibility limitations tied to its two-way players.
Bassey has been playing this season with the Santa Cruz Warriors, where he has been productive in a featured role.
Across 10 G League appearances, the 6-foot-10 big man is averaging 18.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game.
He is familiar with the organization, having spent his rookie season with the Sixers, and has also logged NBA time with the San Antonio Spurs and the Memphis Grizzlies.
By bringing Bassey in on a 10-day deal, Philadelphia now has 15 players on standard NBA contracts.
That roster flexibility allows the Sixers to keep two-way players Dominick Barlow and Jabari Walker available for games without running into usage restrictions.
NBA rules limit teams to a total of 90 active games from their two-way players when they carry fewer than 15 standard contracts.
The Sixers reached that threshold when both Barlow and Walker were active for Sunday’s game against the New York Knicks, making the Bassey signing a necessary step to maintain lineup flexibility.
