The Dallas Mavericks have hired Howard Eisley as a scout, NBA insider Michael Scotto reported, marking his return to the organization after playing for the team in the 2000–01 season.

Eisley spent the past five years as an assistant coach at Michigan and previously held coaching roles with the Knicks, Wizards, and Clippers. He brings over a decade of NBA experience both on the court and on the sidelines.

A 12-season NBA veteran, Eisley played for teams including the Timberwolves, Spurs, Jazz, Mavs, Knicks, Suns, Clippers, and Nuggets. His time in Dallas as a player adds familiarity to the franchise’s current operations.

In his new scouting role, Eisley will assist the Mavericks in evaluating talent for both the NBA and G League affiliates. His experience coaching college and professional players positions him to identify prospects who fit the team’s system.

The Mavericks’ roster for the 2025–26 season features stars like Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, and Klay Thompson, alongside promising young talent such as Cooper Flagg, Jaden Hardy, and Dereck Lively II.
