Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic has identified several of the toughest opponents he has faced during his NBA career, highlighting the level of talent among the league’s current big men.

Speaking during an interview with SPORTbible, the three-time NBA MVP was asked which players have presented the greatest challenges throughout his 11 seasons in the league.

Rather than choosing one opponent, Jokic mentioned Joel Embiid, Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Davis and Victor Wembanyama as some of the most difficult players to compete against.

“I mean, I think the league is so talented,” Jokic said. “It’s so good that there are so many players.

“But let’s say in my generation, it’s [Joel] Embiid, [Karl-Anthony] Towns, Anthony Davis, basically all the big names, Victor [Wembanyama] right now. So it’s a really talented league right now.”

Jokic has competed against Embiid, Towns and Davis for much of his NBA career, with each presenting different challenges because of their offensive and defensive abilities.

Embiid has established himself as one of the league’s leading scoring centers, while Towns is known for his perimeter shooting and offensive versatility.

Davis has been a prominent defensive presence throughout his career, combining shot-blocking ability with mobility and scoring around the basket.

Wembanyama, meanwhile, has emerged as another major challenge for opposing centers because of his unusual combination of height, defensive reach and offensive skills.

Despite facing some of the NBA’s most talented frontcourt players, Jokic has consistently produced impressive numbers throughout his career.

The Serbian big man has averaged 22.2 points, 11.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists across 810 regular-season games, including 769 starts.

He has also won three NBA MVP awards and helped the Nuggets capture their first championship in franchise history in 2023.
