Philadelphia 76ers guard Quentin Grimes will remain with the team for the 2025–26 season after agreeing to his $8.7 million qualifying offer.

NBA insider Jake Fischer reported on The Stein Line that the Sixers never came close to matching Grimes’ camp expectations. “Philadelphia’s highest offer on a one-year pact, sources say, topped out at $9 million,” Fischer noted.

Grimes’ agent, David Bauman, confirmed that multiple proposals from the player’s side were rejected. Offers included a one-year, $17 million deal waiving the no-trade clause and a two-year, $34 million contract with a player option.

The team’s first formal offer this offseason was a four-year, $39 million deal submitted on September 24. A subsequent one-year, $8.8 million proposal would have waived Grimes’ no-trade clause but was also declined.

Ultimately, both sides viewed the qualifying offer as the simplest solution. By signing it, Grimes preserves his control over any trade involving him this season and positions himself for unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2026.

Grimes joined the Sixers in February 2025 in a trade that sent Caleb Martin to Houston alongside a 2025 second-round pick.

The 25-year-old guard finished last season averaging 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists across 28 games in Philadelphia.
