In the wake of mounting injuries, Crvena Zvezda has turned to the transfer market to strengthen its lineup, securing Lithuanian center Donatas Motiejunas as a short-term solution.

As first reported by Sport Klub, Motiejunas arrives from AS Monaco on a three-month loan deal, stepping in as cover for the injured Jasiel Rivero.

A seasoned veteran, Motiejunas was selected 20th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft and spent four years in the NBA, primarily with the Houston Rockets.

His best season came in 2014–15, when he posted averages of 12 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.

He later appeared briefly with the New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs before continuing his career overseas, including several productive seasons in China.

Since 2021, he has been a key member of Monaco’s squad, offering reliable minutes in both domestic and EuroLeague competition.

Last year, he featured in 29 EuroLeague games, contributing 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.9 assists.

With Rivero sidelined, Crvena Zvezda is counting on Motiejunas’ size, experience, and versatility to bolster the frontcourt and help the team navigate a difficult stretch in the season.
