Crvena Zvezda announced Wednesday that center Donatas Motiejunas will continue with the club until the end of the 2025-26 season. The decision follows a meeting between the club president Zeljko Drrelic and the Lithuanian center, resulting in a mutual agreement to extend his stay.
Motiejunas joined Crvena Zvezda on October 2 on a three-month loan from AS Monaco. In 11 EuroLeague games this season, he has averaged 8.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in 16:01 minutes per game, shooting 56.6% from the field and 40% from three-point range.
Defensively, Motiejunas has contributed 1.1 offensive and 1.5 defensive rebounds per game while adding 1.0 assists and 0.6 steals. His presence in the paint has helped Crvena Zvezda maintain strong interior defense, complementing the team’s fast-paced offense and balanced scoring.
Crvena Zvezda currently sits second in the EuroLeague standings with a 9-4 record, matching Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv and trailing only on point differential. The team has outscored opponents 1129-1058 and is 7-1 at home, highlighting a strong start to the season.
The club has benefited from Motiejunas’ efficient scoring and floor spacing, which has allowed stars and role players to operate more effectively. His continued presence gives Crvena Zvezda added depth in the frontcourt as they pursue the top positions in the EuroLeague.
With the 2025-26 season still underway, the extension ensures that Motiejunas can contribute during the most critical stretch of the EuroLeague campaign. Crvena Zvezda aims to leverage his experience and shooting ability in the upcoming fixtures to solidify their playoff positioning.
