Luka Doncic addressed the media during the 2025 Los Angeles Lakers Media Day, discussing his leadership role and excitement for the upcoming season. “Honestly, I think I had a great summer… now it’s all starting again with a fresh mind,” he said.

Doncic highlighted the importance of preseason in building chemistry with new teammates. “Preseason is very important for me, for the team… you can make a lot of mistakes in practice,” he explained.

The point guard spoke about his leadership style and comfort in guiding the team. “Way more comfortable… coming into a new team, it’s kind of hard to get the leadership up,” he said. He emphasized that communication and practice will help strengthen his role.

On playing alongside LeBron James and Austin Reaves, Doncic noted, “Going through practices… it’s going to help us a lot. Us communicating, practicing some things on the floor will help us a lot.”

Doncic also reflected on his offseason physical and mental preparation. “I would just say probably way less tired, a little bit quicker… this is a fresh start, fresh mind for me,” he said. He described his adjustments as key to staying ready for the season.

Discussing new additions like Deandre Ayton, Doncic said, “I was very excited… obviously, we entered the draft together. I’ve known him for a long time, so I’m very excited to have him on my team.”

The Slovenian star addressed stability within the Lakers organization, praising head coach JJ Redick. “The stability is amazing… he will tell you anything. He will tell you if you did something wrong, if you did something good,” Doncic said.

Looking back at last season, Doncic expressed optimism for the Lakers’ potential. “I think we showed we can play with anybody… we added some new pieces, and I think we can do some big things,” he said.

Finally, he shared his excitement for Los Angeles and the Lakers’ culture. “I’m just excited to play for the Lakers… this is one of the best organizations in the world,” he said.
